Miss Emily van der Westhuizen

Allied Professional

I provide comprehensive assessments for children, adolescents, and adults from the age of 5 years upwards. Areas of assessment include school readiness, educational assessments to identify possible barriers to learning (children through to adults), subject-choice assessments, and career assessments. I also provide emotional literacy programmes for children and teens to support emotional regulation and executive functioning, as well as study skills.

About Me

I am a registered psychometrist with over a decade of experience in assessments. I have worked in a variety of environments and populations, from private practice to field research. I have an honours degree and professional registration with the HPCSA as well as various trainings in study skills, psycho-educational skills such as emotional regulation, DBT and executive functioning.

Approach

I work collaboratively with the child/adolescent and their parents to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Individualised recommendations are made to support the needs identified through the assessment. I use a patient and gentle approach while setting boundaries to ensure that all my clients feel safe.
