Mr Ian Kennedy, BA

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

I am a fully registered attachment based psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I completed my training at the Bowlby centre for attachment-based psychotherapy in North London in 2011. I am also trained as a cognitive behavioural therapist and worked in addictions for some years as a nurse and counsellor.

About Me

I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist based in Peckham Rye, Greater London. I help you work through abuse, anxiety, mood disorders, and personal development concerns. I offer individual therapy, counseling, and online sessions in a confidential space. I also work with people in performing Arts and associated professions. I am also a musician.

Approach

I am an attachment based psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I am interested in you as a whole person , not a diagnossis or a single problem. I will spend time with you finding out what you want from psychotherapy and about your history; particularly your relationships both past and present and any traumatic events in your life. Whilst I use techniques from cognitive behaviour therapy and problem solving my approach is more long term and inclusive.

I always suggest an initial meeting to see if we feel we can work with each other and to tell you more about my approach. I am also happy to speak with you on the phone before setting up a meeting. It is important you find the right therapist for you and this gives you as much oppurtunity as possible to make that decision.
