Mrs Sadie Fourie

Counseling Psychologist

My basic therapeutic stance is person-centered. I am moving beyond talk therapy, employing brain-based techniques to get the nervous system to recover and recharge itself.

About Me

I am a Counseling Psychologist based in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. I provide individual counseling, mindfulness practice, psychoeducation, and therapy for abuse, divorce, life transitions, stress, and relationship difficulties.

Approach

I begin by helping you notice how your body and attention show up, using gentle regulation exercises alongside reflective talk so your nervous system can settle and you can think more clearly. In my Pretoria practice and online, sessions can be in Afrikaans or English, paced to your rhythm and often include short grounding practices to try between meetings. We work through painful memories and life shifts with steady, brain-informed steps that feel manageable. People facing loss, burnout or relationship strain usually find this way of working steadying.

Services

My point of departure is client-centered where I regard the client as the expert on his/her own life and what the client wants from therapy. By illiciting and highlighting the internal as well as external resources of the client we co-create the outcome the client is seeking. We also go beyond talk therapy when needing to address trauma, by using brain based therapies like brain working recursive therapy(bwrt), eye movement integration(EMI) as well as diaphragmatic breathing.
